You Are What You Read

Lately I've been reading Harry Potter. Well, lately, it's been classics. I've been keeping to a list I put together based on a couple of "best book," lists I found online. I want to be well-read, and I want to see what the very best writing really is like.

Well, Harry Potter did happen to be on my list. (not my choice, someone else's! But I love Harry Potter, so, no apologies there.)

Lately, I've been sprinkling English anachronisms throughout the dialogue in my AMERICAN historical fiction. Things like, "a bit," "a touch," "all right, then," and "toddle off," you get the picture.

So maybe I should be reading (re-reading) Joseph Smith's journals. And the journal of Joseph Cardin. And the newpaper clippings I've collected.

But I've read them all so much already. I really don't want to.

And I'm basking in the warm, hot-tub-like comfort of Harry right now. So... I'll probably just have to do a touch more editing on these chapters I've been writing.

I'll toddle off now.
